Since 2000, the Foundation has sent medical equipment valued at over $1 million and raised over $200,000 towards a goal of $1 million for an endowment fund for needy pediatric patients.
Although still young, the Foundation has also achieved the following:
In 2000, officially launched the Washington, DC operation in recognition of our non-profit, tax-exempt charitable status and created an Honorary Board of distinguished members from the governmental, media, corporate and diplomatic fields. At its opening, Hearst Newspapers columnist and former White House correspondent for UPI, Ms. Helen Thomas, an Honorary board member, applauded the Foundation’s efforts to improve the quality of health care services to the people of Lebanon and the region through Saint George Hospital
Established a select group of Americans, mostly leaders from major medical, educational and social institutions, who share an interest to improve the health status of the people of Lebanon, to serve on the Board of Directors
In 2000, obtained a donation of medicines and medical supplies from CrossLink International, valued in excess of $30,000 to help needy patients
In 2001, obtained a donation of refurbished eyeglasses valued at $74,000
In 2004, purchased and shipped to Saint George Hospital two greatly needed, new fully-equipped life support ambulances -- Pictures of Donated Ambulances
In the summer of 2006, launched a campaign to help those affected by the war in Lebanon and raised over $100,000
In 2007 and 2008, placed several Balamand Medical School graduates in residency programs in the US, with the help of friends of the Foundation
In 2007, purchased and shipped a pediatric ultrasound intended for cardiac use and two neonatal respirators
In 2008, Mr. Jacques Nasser generously donated $250,000, enabling us to equip the Pediatric Intensive Unit, now named in honor of his parents, Najla and Abdo Nasser -- View Press Release
