Since 2000, the American Foundation for Saint George Hospital has sent medical equipment to the hospital valued at over $1 million. We have raised more than $200,000 in donations towards our goal of $1 million for a children’s endowment fund for needy pediatric patients. We are proud of all we have achieved in a relatively short time, and thank our donors for their continued support, but there is still a long way to go.
Other accomplishments include:
Equipped the Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit with state-of-the-art items, including incubators, patient monitors, and an advanced neonatal respirator.
Honored Mr. Carlos Ghosn, Chairman, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Company and Chairman and CEO of Renault, with the Make a Difference award at a private dinner at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC.
Organized receptions in Kansas and in Michigan to increase awareness of Saint George Hospital.
Held the first gala at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC; honoring Fashion Designer Reem Acra and raising more than double any previous Foundation event. These events helped the foundation gain numerous new supporters and better exposure.
2010 - 2005
Mr. Jacques Nasser donates $250,000; enabling the Foundation to equip the Najla and Abdo Nasser Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Saint George Hospital.
Purchased and shipped a pediatric ultrasound machine and two neonatal respirators to Saint George Hospital. Began placing residents from Saint George Hospital and students from the University of Balamand at various US medical centers for elective study and residency training. Residents take their advanced medical training back to Saint George Hospital.
Raised more than $100,000 through major fundraising efforts to help those affected by the war in Lebanon.
Organized first annual fundraising dinner in Washington, DC. Since 2005, the Foundation’s fundraising dinners have helped the Foundation to raise close to $400,000 in contributions, as well as to increase awareness for our important work. 2004 - 2000
Purchased and shipped two fully-equipped life support ambulances to Saint George Hospital to provide life saving emergency medical care.
Obtained a donation of refurbished eyeglasses valued at $74,000, to help thousands of patients who could not otherwise afford them.
Foundation achieved non-profit, tax-exempt charitable status and officially launched in Washington, DC.
Honorary Board of distinguished members formed from members of government, business, and the media. At its opening, honorary board member Ms. Helen Thomas, former president of the White House Correspondents Association, applauded the Foundation’s efforts to improve the quality of health care services to the people of Lebanon and the region.
Inaugural Board of Directors established; consisting of leaders from premier American medical, educational and social institutions who share a desire to improve the health status of the people of Lebanon.
Foundation received a generous donation of medicine and medical supplies from CrossLink International valued at over $30,000; to help needy patients at the hospital.
